So, I've been chit-chatting with a girl on OKCupid about religion and religious views. She asked if I was an atheist or agnostic/questioning/etc and here is my truthful answer.
I like to think of myself as non-religious. I feel that God, some embodied, thinking 'higher' power, is ridiculous. I have my own theory about what's happening to me when I die/morals etc. I call it the Swiss cheese theory. It centers mostly around the reincarnation of living things. I hypothesize that every living being has a 'soul' (just because I need a term) that is un-whole, like Swiss cheese. Through living different lives these holes are filled in by certain experiences, good and bad. When you come back you have no recollection of your previous lives or what you have 'accomplished' but live out your life as whatever you are experiencing. There's a finite amount of living material and it simply cycles through. Morality is defined and determined by each individual life's experiences/parameters. For instance, if you are reincarnated as a Evangelical Christian, that's the morality you would most likely ascribe to (if you stayed with the church throughout your life, believed, etc). If you were reincarnated as something else, like a tree or flower, obviously morality doesn't factor in at all (as far as I know about plants morals). All in all it's a simple concept and one that makes sense to me.
