2006...God, I'm old...

I cannot even begin to expel the wonders that were on New Year's weekend, so I won't try...I'll just say that it was an excellent time and that all had fun and if this is any indication of how the year will continue then I saw forward, on! (Let's be honest, I was ready to kick 2005 the hell out anyhow...) And with the New Year, I'm on my way to being in a new building (right behind Independence Hall) and still with my lovely house in Bella Vista and my same roommate and best twin, Pammers. And some other things that we'll just keep quiet about but believe in and hope for.

We've got the neighborhood bar where everyone really does know our name...we had a stocking up in the place (thanks 12 Steps...I wonder if we won the Powerball?) and they provide many opportunities for fun...like food after 2 Street when you thought nothing else could be more fun than giving a cop a beer in line for a porta-poddy from your Gap purse...or good times while watching the Horns hook a championship (and Pam was rooting for USC...but we both really didn't care either way...) So life is good here. Work is going well and other life is getting interesting...so we'll just see.

Pop culture things that I have to talk about are the fact that Brokeback Mountain broke my heart (and was wonderful...I love Heath and Jake in love...and I love them.), Narnia made me feel warm and fuzzy (oh Lucy Pevensie was SO much fun...could I do that show again?), SCRUBS is back home (THANK GOD!!! much love NBC) and played Mike Tolcher (LOVE HIM!! shout out to Tiny!), and sadly, John Spencer has passed. My Leo love is eternal and TWW will never EVER be the same without him. Also, can we please refrain from telling things on the news that turn out to be wrong in the morning? I know everyone has probably had their share of mistakes (and I'm not making a comment in favor of either side, it's a tragedy all around) but coal-mining is something that is a part of where I grew up and reminds me of many things (ASP included) and I just have to say that our nation continues to mourn all the losses that keep filling our news. I mean, I live in Philly. We've had someone die like every day for two weeks or something and are holding a record...is that something anyone should be proud of? Didn't think so.

I have a new love in my life and before you go and get all giggly thinking I'm going to reveal names, well...I'm not. But this love I will speak of...it's about my 30-gig video I-Pod from mum and dad this Christmas season and let's just say, I couldn't love the thing more if I tried...I'm currently listening to it and typing this entry and couldn't be smiling more if I tried. It's the best thing for the office and everyone was anxious to see it when I got back. He's a cute little bugger and I can't wait to get even more songs. I'm currently using only about 500 songs and the sucker holds 7500. So, only 7000 more to go. (Can we tell I work in AP now? HA.)

The trip back from Alabama for the hollies was hellish (and while I don't wish to tell the story yet again as it has bad memories for me) let's just say that Southwest has issued a roundtrip travel voucher for me in reaction to the horror that was. While it will be a while before I fly again, when I do...it will be on them...and that's the least they could have done. So that's exciting and I'm happy at least about that. Besides, getting to spend 6 days with the fam was worth it. They're a huge part of my life and I don't get to see them enough. I also got to hang out briefly with my girl Ane and that was excellent.

It was hard being in Alabama for some reasons and I won't get into that either because 2006 is a Rat Bastard-free year. But some places are just tied to memory and Decatur is exactly that. I can't come into it without being steeped in middle/high school memories and some are very sad now because I don't talk to those people anymore and not by choice. Enough said, but I missed those old Christmases and seeing those old friends (one in particular). Ah well. Life does go on.

Well, I'm hungry and have much more to do since I'm starting my three day weekend, due to the move to the new office. So now that I've exhausted a huge entry that should about make up for the fact that I'm never on here anymore, let me know how you all are doing. I've been gone so long I feel I'm sure I missed out on a lot going on. :) Smiles and much love until the next time!
