"In the year 2077, Japan withdraws from the world community after defying international treaties on the development of bio-technology. With a force field to stop people getting in or out, nobody beyond the fortress country has any idea what’s happening within its borders."
Vexille Part of the Sci-Fi London Festival, which I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't realised existed, till this year.
Good movie, great animation. Slightly problematic script, in that the writers obviously understood elements of the script but didn't quite manage to convey all the information they had to the audience. I enjoyed it enough that I'll probably get the DVD, but I'd love to get hold of a fan-sub to compare and contrast the translations. I often prefer the fan translations to the official one - they tend to provide translations of cultural nuances as well as the dialogue.
