Tech support?

Can anyone tell me how to save an rtf file in Word, without ending up with all the extraneous crap that Microsoft is so fond of inserting? (my rl name, for example...) Can I delete the useless stuff somehow?

I have txt editor which doesn't seem to be able to save rtf, and something which I think may be an html editor, which, well, ditto.

And I have Word. Which I object to on principle.
