LJ & CONS: Is this real? Are we really home?

Testing, testing, one, two, three.

While it's here and before it goes, here's the post I've been trying to get up on LJ since Sunday:

Oh sweet internets! How I have missed thee! Edit: How ironic is that? ...Actually, is it ironic? Does that fit the meaning of irony? Irony is a bit of a vague concept for me.

Continuing in what seems to now be a trend for me and conventions, I was at Diacon Alley this last weekend - sort of.

Highlights included: staring at strangers chests trying to figure out if I could match the badge name to some other presence I remembered (face or internet), the ball and live swing band, actually managing to finish all my costumes and more importantly getting to wear them, and exploring Canterbury with TuaWahine. And the costumes! The costumes at the ball were amazing. I do love the incredible variety of outfits the HP series can inspire. There's so many characters, eras and themes to choose from. Oh, and having the foresight to book an ensuite room, for reasons that will be apparent in the next paragraph.

Low points mostly centered around becoming very ill on Wednesday night and being knocked out of all events on Tuesday, including the panel I was supposed to be on. Yes, I missed the Shipping Harry discussion I had been so looking forward to. Luckily the organisers were very organised and drafted in two much more interesting speakers.

And I did eventually work out, while stuck in my room, that I could just about get intermittent phone signal. Those of you old enough to remember 'rabbit's ears aerials' for televisions will know where I'm heading with this. Basically I had to prop my alleged smart-phone up against a triangular cardboard packet of sandwiches with a metal drink can against both, and position them all on the desk just about under the window, at which point I could get signal for about 30 seconds. All texts had to be pretyped and then I had to sit there with my finger hovering over the send button and pray I didn't knock the array out of alignment as I sent the message.

Right now, posting to LJ is kinda reminding me of that...
