Volume two of A&E's Pride and Prejudice arrived Saturday to my great delight. Mr. Darcy is much improved after the proposal, as of course he is meant to be, so much so that I have to say I now prefer the job Colin Firth does with him to Matthew MacFayden. MM was just a bit too enthralled with Lizzie Bennet...He wasn't quite proud enough to be thoroughly unlikable (as CF was in the first half) and then once he admitted his love he turned into a mooning puppy every time they were together. I just felt CF was more Darcyish than MM, as a whole. Although I wish I could have a little five minute clip of both MM's proposal to play whenever I was in a particularly girlish mood. The raw emotion of it is just so satisfying. *melts*
I'm of two minds whether to keep it for an extra day and watch it again or hurry to get Bride and Prejudice so it's here when Dan is out of town on Wed and Thurs. Meh. I think I'm going to have to watch it again, especially for the part where they view Pemberly. *le sigh*
We had a nice weekend. No parents, which is notable. Last night we had babysitters come over to watch Kaden and Geneva (a gift from my mom) and went out to dinner at Wildfire (a gift from
gracemarie.) The girls who babysat were probably 12 or so, and Kaden adored them. He keeps asking to go over to their houses and have them come play with him again. It was adorable how excited he was when they came over, dancing around and trying to show them everything at once. "Come on! Come on upstairs so I can show you my train." Geneva did fanstastic: drank 4 oz from the bottle and was "happy baby" the whole time.
Dan and I had a great meal. I had the herb crusted mahi mahi served over sauteed garlic spinach with red pepper and corn relish. Burnt my tongue BADLY on the mashed redskin potatoes. It still hurts, a whole 1/2 day later. Dan had an amazing chicken tortilla soup and then the ahi tuna steak with soy glaze and wasabi cream. And we both did a wine flight, which is four 2 oz glasses of different wines. My Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc was out of this world, though I've decided I just don't care for chardonnay. The riesling was good too, but by that point I was so toasted I only had a bit of it.
The crazy thing is that even with babysitting and a gift card for dinner, we still ended up paying $75.00 for the evening. We went over the gift certificate (wine was just too tempting, and I wasn't about to leave without dessert!) and then we left our babysitters some money for dinner. When did dinner become so freaking expensive? Anyway, it was a nice, once a year type of event. :)
Okay, off to do some writing.
