So if Figgy comes when Kaden did, she'll arrive on September 21st. That sounds fine to me. That gives me four days to recover before we go out to dinner for our anniversary and three whole weeks before we introduce her to everyone at my birthday party. And it's a nice birthday, isn't it? But I'm trying to be open to the fact that she could come anywhere between Sept 12th and October 10th. You just never know with due dates, do you?
Had a beautiful chat in the park with
eiramanit who is in town to visit her parents for Labor Day. She and I went to high school together, and she has a son born exactly one year after Kaden. He's darn cute. A very happy guy who loves to tease his parents. He gave me a kiss, too, which was too sweet. I love reconnecting with people. :)
Today is Game Day! Woo hoo hoo hoo hoo for football season. We play Vanderbilt (??) Whatever. It's the first game of the season so it's significant even if it completely doesn't matter whether or not we win. Doob refused to wear anything Michigan today. I was like, But Doob, it's game day. Dedah's going to wear his jersey, and mommy will wear her jersey, don't you want to dress up in Michigan colors and we can all band to the game? "No. I don't want anything Michigan!"
So he's wearing red and kahki. Even my dad showed up in his Michigan jersey to play with him this morning. What a freaking Doob.
I have an appointment with a cardiologist on Tuesday morning because whenever I get a Braxton Hicks it feels like my chest is in a vise. Hopefully it all checks out normally, because obviously something like heart trouble would plant me in the hospital for my birth. But I talked with my doctor last week and he reassured me that the hospital experience I'd have at Highland Park Hospital would in no way ressemble my experience at Prentice downtown, so much so that you can't even compare the two. He also said he does the same proceedure in the hospital that he does at home: mobile mother, intermittent fetal heartbeat monitoring every hour or so, food and drink, slow birth of the head with perineal massage, immediate contact between mother and baby, delayed cutting of the umbilical cord, immediate breastfeeding, etc etc. He also encourages his patients to go home the same day they give birth. Highland Park allows this if there's no complications and the mother is doing well. So, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to go to HP. Not to mention that they have labor tubs (whee hee!) which I'd love to try.
Also, Coldplay is awesome as a band and as individuals. I love their music and am starting to love what they stand for, too. Did you know they offset the carbon emissions for the manufacture and marketing of their last two albums by
planting trees in southern India and in Mexico? Fruit trees, to stimulate the local economy and provide sustainability. How much does that rock? Of course, most of the trees died because of
implementation complications and lack of funding (as in the organization Coldplay hired to oversee the planting provided the locals with trees but not water or money for upkeep *rolls eyes*) but I applaud them for trying. Their second attempt in Mexico is already faring better than the Indian one, so I have confidence that the organizations will learn from their mistakes and figure out a way to make this work. It's a very cool idea, anyway.
Okay, off to clean the bathroom, take a shower, get dressed and wrap the presents for my friend's baby shower this afternoon. Go Blue!
