U2

The concert ROCKED, naturally.

Aaaaahhhh!!. Just...Wooooohooooohooooohooooo!

Seriously.

They played a terrific setlist, including many of the greats (One, Where the Streets Have no Name, Pride In the Name of Love, With or Without You, Bullet the Blue Sky, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, and Elevation) as well as an awesome acoustic version of Walk On and most of their latest album.

They could have played anything and I'd have been floored. I danced for 2 hours straight and my neck is killing me. For some reason the people in our section refused to stand (Hello? You don't SIT during a U2 concert! This is a rock concert people! Get off your duff!) but gracemarie and I and the hyper kid next to us ignored them and stood up anyway. They all did stand up for Sunday Bloody Sunday (of course, man, how could you sit through that?) I will say this: it's hard to dance in a stadium seat.

In short, awesome.

Awesome awesome awesome.

The light show and the graphics behind the stage really added to it, too. At one point they morphed all the major religious symbols from one into the other, and then shone the "Coexist" banner, which Bono was also wearing as a headband/blindfold at times. The controversy surrounding it strikes me as a high form of irony. Bono made a point of saying during the concert that terrible things have been done by people who valued ideas more than people. "We value people more than ideas!" Life, love, freedom, dignity...you gotta love U2. He had the text of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights scrolling across during Where the Streets Have No Name. And images of all the flags of the world dropped down during One.

Powerful stuff.

I don't know, I can't do it justice! It was just so completely and totally awesome.

Yeah. :) Awesome.
