I need a good place to eat in Waterloo, preferably that is tasty and quasi-nutricious food (I'll ditch the nutritious for something suitably delicious though!).

Thanks!

A co-worker of mine (one with some pretty steep credentials btw) recommended this.

The place is actually maggoty with them. It's really a question of what you want.

In the plazas at University and Philip: To the west I recommend Kismet, The Grill, The Vegetarian Fast Food Restaurant (have the pad thai), Mikey's, and Da Won. They all do take out. To the east, Mel's Diner is not bad (they do really great salads, surprisingly), and is also open 8AM Thursday to 10PM Monday non-stop, so if you really need some eggs at 4AM on the weekend, you now have a place to go. There is also Harvey's, the Pita Factory, TCBY, Subway, and Pizza Nova around there if you want something a little more traditional. Avoid Campus Pizza and Phat Cat.

Uptown there's Ethel's, Symposium, the many eateries of the Huether Hotel... basically anywhere on King between Central and William is good eats.

There are various places around Conestoga, too, which is closer to your house, but the only one worth mentioning is Ye's Sushi, which is all you can eat.

Will that do for now?

Unless by "good place" you mean upscale.

> Verses, at 182 Victoria St N, is hands down the best restaurant in the KW area. Only go there is someone else is paying, though.
> There are various steakhouses around, of which Charcoal's is probably the best, but I know people who swear by Ali Baba.
> I have enjoyed very much my trips to The Rude Native, just south of King and Erb.

Also, Zen Gardens is a vegetarian place of awesomeness.
