Chappelles block party is the best movie of the year so far, and ill tell you why
This is NOT Chappelles Show: The Movie. in fact, it is far from it. Dave is not up to his usual shennanigans, and he tones it down for this one. In fact, dave is not even the main focus of the film, instead the movie really focuses on the "regular folks" that dave invited to his big concert from his hometown in Ohio. Also the movie really focuses on the musicians and how they are affected by this whole event. I mean, dave even manages to reunite the Fugees for the first time in years to play in his concert. What really shines through is dave's genuine care for the community and just how he is as a person as opposed to some crazy comedian who does crazy things. Dave is less a main character, but a catalyst for all the events that take place in the movie, and he just sits back and watches as his plan beautifully plays out.
This movie is one of the most beautifully show and edited documentaries i have ever seen, and it really does need to be seen to beleive. Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) really manages to bring out the humanity in it all, as that could be hard seeing all these huge names on stage at once
Amazingly, dave has assembled some of the greatest living black musicians to one concert like, Common, John Legend, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, the Roots, Kanye West, Dead Prez, and Fugees.
Listen, i know a lot of you dont listen to rap music. in fact some of you despise it. But i will be the one to tell you that this is not what you think rap is. i consider this stuff "alternative" rap, and its easily accesible to any fan of any music. there is no denying the immense talent that these artists have. listen, i would reccomend this movie to anyone, and if you arent willing to pay for it, ill get you in for free, thats how much like this movie.
