nip = kitchener

so, i just found out the origin of the nip.  i'm at a party and my friend matthew told me.  he has a degree in history, so he must know.

anyway, the nip (what salsbury house calls hamburgers) originated from winnipeg's anti-german ummmmm....sentiment?  during WW I.  basically because hamburgers are named after hamburg, they didn't want to have anything to do with that.  so they called them winnipegggers. and the nip part got taken as the shortened name.  right at the same time they started calling berlin ontario kitchener.  yep.

tom says, its on a par with freedom fries, which i think is an apt observation.

what's in a name?  i guess its endured.
