Yes I went... Yes I had fun.... No, I didn't have that much.
The con was booking at the convention center along with a girls volleyball tournament.... Made for a lot of flashmobs and gatecrashing. The con staff tried to keep up but their limited success was largely a function of the moral fiber of the group in question...
I got a bad case of suit envy... Beastcub does a really good unicorn. At least I got a good meeting photo.
The other unicorn that made an impression was an even closer match....
Total feelings on inadequacy here...
Oh well there is always a better.
I think I had more fun suiting around the public areas than any of the con organized things.
One morning on the way back from breakfast there was a croud of 8-10 year old girls with their parents near the ice skating rink. Trying to be a good performer I set my coffee down and knelt to receive the croud. One of the tried to beat the muzzle off my head...,
But the really memorable part was when one of them asked, "Why do you want to be a unicorn?"
In return I asked, "Why do you want to be a little girl?"
Without missing a beat she retorted with, "Because I am one, silly!"
What could I say to that?
The other really memorable incident happened at Original Joe's. The MaitreD' didn't bat an eyelash when my friend said "two men and a unicorn". Though he did inquire if I would eat with my head on. I was tempted to order a longneck beer....
After the con, I had to wait until the next weekend to finally get rolling again.
