Last weekend
massage_bear and I went down to help get
gianettaremigio ready for Gulf Wars. When we pulled in the yard instead of seeing Sam, the much opinionated Siamese sitting on the front step there was a little black cat. The little guy was in that no longer a kitten but not a full grown cat stage. Pure black with a VERY small white patch on the chest. And was as lovable as they come. No shyness, came right up to us and wanted to be picked up and petted... purring loudly the entire time. So we gave him a little attention and then got to work on why we came down.
On Sunday evening we talked with
gianettaremigio and turns out he was the latest in the series of cats that get dropped off out in the country after the owners don't want them anymore. Why people think this is the right thing to do when you don't want/can't have a cat I don't know.
Well
massage_bear and I talked it over. Could we afford another little one? Would it get along with the others? Would they tolerate a newbie in their midst? Bohdi and Kalimeow are pretty stable and comfortable with the dog, would we be screwing up the nice balance we had achieved. So we decided, if the little one was still there when we went down last night to take a load of stuff for the war we would take him home.
So after work, we went home grab the carrier and headed down and within a minute of getting out of the car here comes the little guy walking across the road to greet us. We scritch him some and pick him up and before he knows it he is in a carrier. Was there any complaining? Nope. Sat there quietly watching, curled up on the towel inside. The entire trip home was quiet (ok a couple complaints about bumpy roads but I don't blame him).
massage_bear had planned ahead and scheduled an appointment with our
vet for this morning for a checkup. After some poking and prodding that he wasn't overly happy about he got a clean bill of health and another appointment to have some "equipment" removed tomorrow morning.
But now comes the hard part... what's his name? So far nothing seems to have stuck. So any suggestions?
