John smirked when he noticed the village up ahead. The children running to meet then with open smiles and laughter had caused Rodney to grown in distress.

“Sheppard, you had better protect me from the herd of germs and questions that even niece could answer without blinking an eye.”

“Are we there yet?” John chuckled, “What time is it?”

“Not funny!”

“Can I go outside and play?” John heard Ronon snort and could see Teyla trying not to smile.

“It takes a village to raise a child,” Ronon said with a serious voice that made him look to see if the big guy was getting serous on him.

“Seriously, I bet every planet and every galaxy must think they are or were the first to say that.” Rodney huffed while rolling his eyes.

“For some their village is all they know.” Teyla sounded sad and yet was able to give Rodney that stern look of hers. “Not everyone leaves or travels to trade.”

“Well it should be a law or something that they should. They might find what they need to advance their people and find technology that could help to protect themselves.”

“Or you might quit while you are still standing.” Ronon made a point to get Rodney to look over at Teyla causing the man to look nervous.

“Well…..I think it’s best if we don’t try and talk about socialization and civilization and well…..shutting up now.”

Before John could say anything the kids arrived and they all swarmed around Rodney. A few gravitated over to Ronon, but Rodney seemed to be the one they wanted to talk too.

The adults could be heard calling out various names with concern in their voices. Weariness and caution on their faces until they recognized Teyla, and then it was open smiles and acceptance.

Soon they would be welcomed to join them and they would be introduced to village elders or counsel. Teyla had said they could be trusted but then again she had said that about the Genii as well.

Watching Rodney’s discomfort with the attention from the children never got old. It was nice to see the man get frustrated and plus it was entertaining as well to watch it all unfold. Soon the chocolate would come out just so they would leave him alone for a bit. Then the threats that Ronon would eat them if they didn’t leave him alone will come out. That would lead to the parents laughing and Ronon start to growl and chase the kids.

‘Yeah, today will be a great day,” John thought to himself as they headed toward the Village.
