Summary: How John Sheppard really feels about Clowns
He was being held hostage by Kolya and his men, what else was new. He was alone in this dark room tied by ropes to a chair, waiting, just waiting. He wondered what the bastard had in store for him. Another wraith? Or was he just going to slice him up this time with his trusty knife.
The door opened.
“Look whatever you have planned,” John said with a bit of a growl in his voice, “don’t waste you-“
He looked up and realized it wasn’t Kolya. But a clown, a clown a child would see at a circus. But as it came closer his face became distorted and it was laughing in a sinister tone of voice.
Closer and closer it came and then……
“John,” Elizabeth said shaking him awake. The Atlantis military commander shot up in bed trying not to gasp in fright. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” He said wiping the sweat off his forehead, “just had a nightmare.”
“Want to talk about it?”
John sighed and slowly started to lie back down in bed. He wanted to try to hide this rather embarrassing secret that most likely only his brother knew.
“Not really.”
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow.
“John, you know you can’t hide it from me. You know you are going to tell me eventually….what was the nightmare about?”
John sighed and slowly sat back. It was one of the things he loved and hated about starting a relationship with Elizabeth. He could hide nothing from her. No matter how hard he resisted she would pry it out of him eventually. But then again, she helped often lift massive weights off his shoulders.
“Fine, you promise you won’t think differently of me.”
“Do I ever John? Seriously try me.”
He made a deep sigh.
“You know how I said I hated Clowns?”
“Yes.”
“Well I lied, I am absolutely terrified of them. My grandfather was a bit of a jokester, and when I was seven I was having a Halloween party with my friends, Dave who was five invited some of his Kindergarten buddies. We were all in the basement and Gramps decided it would be funny to turn off all the electricity in the house, then come down the stairs in a clown costume with a knife in his hand….since then I see a Clown and I get scared.”
Elizabeth snorted.
“It’s not funny,” John said growling adjusting him himself back into bed, “I knew it, you think of me as a scary cat.”
“John I wasn’t laughing at you,” She replied rubbing his shoulder gently, “I thought it was a cute story, though, being scared of clowns isn’t cute….the point is no matter what….I am always am going to have the same opinion of you.’
The words were enough to make him smile. With a deep sigh he curled up into her and began to relax.
“How did I get so lucky to find a gal like you?”
She smiled and placed a kiss on his forehead.
“Maybe because it took you long enough you had to look harder.”
