Because in the world of the Blur boys a "worldwide release" is really rather limited, I figured today is the perfect day to post my account of the No Distance Left To Run premier last week in London. You know, the night with hobo!Damon, popstar!Alex, indie!Graham, and shockinglyhandsome!Dave.
It all started with this. In the cold at around 4.30pm, with one other guy who wasn't there to see the band, but was one of those premier-goers, who had been at the premier of Legally Blond the day before (he would bring the lulz later, though)
The waiting was cold, and long, but the people where nice. There was one absolutely insane girl, though. Seriously. Only talked to herself, and as soon as somebody stood on the red carpet she yelled in their general direction that they needed to go away, cause only Damon was allowed to walk there. Lol? (I thought Graham had all the weird ones).
The guy who was there first had gathered some friends, but they clearly had no idea who Blur were. When the
director of the movie arrived (young guy, glasses... reminds you of anyone?) they all went "Isn't that the Coffee & TV guy?" and were glared at by all the fans.
Anyway. Boys were fashionably late. Alex got out of the car first, which amused me way too much. Graham was smoking like a chimney, and Dave was being cool and friendly and immediately talking to the press. Damon rushed passed the press and than ran to the fans to go running around, back and forth to everyone who yelled loudly enough for him to hear. The insane girl didn't recognize him at all, until the guy next to me pointed out to her that the homeless looking guy was definitely pretty boy Damon. Now tell me guys, which other band brings the lulz this easily?
Damon fled inside, Graham & Dave got stuck doing press and Alex spread his time between press and fans. Damon rushed outside again, and did his whole headless chicken act all over again. Seriously. He was like a big kid, who had secretly been eating candy all day, found his dad's last beer bottle and now was enjoying himself immensely. Got my Beetlebum vinyl sleeve signed, while he denied that he was an "absolute legend". He was definitely all smiles and niceness. Called him back to have my picture taken with him, which turned into a bit of a Getty situation with people recognizing me and messaging me all over the digital world (♥ thanks, you lot!)
This is the pic I took then (oh, zoom I love thee):
Alex came by, who was ridiculously thin and a lady was telling him to get a move on, cause they boys where supposed to go inside. Got my autograph, he took a pic with the guy next to me and than ran off when this happened:
Then there were pictures, boys went back inside and I was a very happy fangirl. The end.
Conclusion: Damon is the most adorable and hilarious person alive. Alex was ridiculous and wonderful at the same time. Graham & Dave were too far away, but too good to be true.
Oh, and the next day this happened. Which was hilarious and slightly creepy, cause people on the tube were staring at me :/
