First came a sweater; then came socks, a hat and mittens. Now, since it’s much too warm for any of that stuff, a new sundress.
Pattern:
Fiona Baby Sundress (ravelry link)
Yarn: Lion Brand Cottonease in terracotton
Needles: US size 6 (dress) and 5 (straps)
Notes and Modifications:
Quite a few this go-round. I used smaller sized needles to reach closer to the gauge. I replaced all the seed stitch portions with a garter rib and completed that for eight rows each time rather than five as called for in the pattern.
While the dress itself was knit using size 6 needles, I used size 5s for the straps. Each was started by working four rows of stockinette stitch, measuring about an inch, before beginning to work the i-cord. This provided a nice flat surface to then sew onto the inside of the dress.
Overall I really enjoyed this pattern again, and like the results. Perhaps if I make it again I’ll switch to smaller sized needles and work the chest portion in total ribbing, just for something different.
Happy knitting!
