It certainly feels as though the following items could all be proceeded with that phrase, hence the list format.
- My beloved yarn store in Nashville, Angel Hair Yarns, has gone out of business. This is a double blow for it was both a lovely little store with a nice staff and also the only yarn store near campus. *pouts* There is slight hope as a few exits down the highway there's a JoAnn Fabrics.
- Attended the final sale for Angel Hair Yarns before leaving for home quite by accident. No yarn purchases (yay!) but I did buy some crochet hooks for my mom, a yarn requirement guide for crochet (the intended gift for which I came), and two booklets for myself. The first is called
Quick Knit Keepsakes and is full of baby blanket patterns. The other is
Dale of Norway Dalegarn #8301 Lace Shawls.
- For the second year in a row (three if you count the year I tried on my own) am attempting a knit stash down. This is the year, I can feel it. :-)
- Simple garter stitch washcloths and Warm Up America squares; that's what I've been making the last couple of weeks if you can believe it. All part of the effort to help my mom use up her Red Heart Super Saver stash. The dishcloths will hopefully be useful to my sister who has been attempting to sell her crafty items at shows and such.
- Today I convinced my mom to try her hand at crocheting doilies. We were at JoAnn Fabrics today so she could look for more yarn to finish the afghan she's making (wedding gift for my cousin and his fiancee). I pointed out some booklets they had for crocheting doilies, which my mom looked over and declared all too difficult for her. It was then I spotted a beginner's booklet for thread crochet, which she decided to buy along with some lilac thread.
Suppose that's all for now. Happy knitting.
