Where did February go? It doesn't seem possible that it's gone already, taken away by cleaning, schoolwork, preparing for a new housemate (my cousin), planning out a spring vacation, fighting a long bout with the flu, and all of life's little unexpected surprises. As all that was happening, I found my daily knitting time slowly diminishing, until last week I realized I had spent three days without knitting needles touching my hands. A shame, I know.
So, now it's March, which according to the weekly JoAnn Fabrics advertisment is National Craft month. What better time to jump start the knitting and blogging, eh?
February wasn't a total loss. I successfully managed to finish the cranberry socks I posted about in January, which will be a Christmas present for a friend of mine in Alaska. I know red is her favorite color, so am hoping cranberry will count.

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease in cranberry
I also completed a kitchen set for my second mom, once again to be a Christmas present. I started by making a handtowel, then with the extra yarn made a matching dishcloth. I think the dishcloth photo better displays the actual yarn color.

Yarn: Lily Sugar & Cream in cornflower blue
Following that success, not much else transpired. First there was a failed pair of socks; I got midway through with the leg portion, measured it, then discovered it was too big. Frogged. Next, another pair of socks. I had thought to make them using two colors, yet wasn't satisfied with how they looked. Frogged.
Hoping to end the epidemic, I started working again on the shawl for my mom. It feels as if I've been working on this project forever, although technically it's only been since December Originally this was to be her birthday present, yet that idea was abandoned for two reasons; 1) she implied that she would love a pair of mittens, as in, "Just looking for a pattern for crochet mittens because it seems my daughter has no plans to make me a pair.", and 2) there was no earthly way I was going to finish it in time for her birthday, which is in January.
This project wasn't immune to the troubles. The idea is to work the shawl in the pinwheel style, then add a decorative border at the end. Three times in a row I would finish two rounds only to find that I had missed one of the yarn-overs and have to tink back again. I've also ran out of yarn twice now, which is the current problem. The shawl is the length of my arm now, so a few more inches to go before the border.
Despite all those setbacks, I can't fully blame them for my lack of posts lately. After finishing the moss grid kitchen set, I decided it was time to begin this small group of project ideas I've had in my head awhile. There are four right now, although I'm a bit hesitant at this point to really go into detail about any of them. Quite frankly, I'm a little nervous about them actually working, so don't want to jump the gun just yet. :P
So there you have it. Let the games begin.
