Summer!

Okay, this has been bothering me for the longest time. Why are both of these called spatulas?

Was some really, really unintelligent person like, "Cooking utensil? Check. Stick? Check. Thing on end of stick? Check.

"Clearly the same product."

Was there an original spatula? Did the other spatula like... infringe on the first spatula's spatula copyright and get away with it?

What if, during a frying emergency, you called out, "Quick! A spatula!" and the kitchen help came running with a useless, pliable piece of rubber instead of the strong, unyielding plastic utensil necessary to remove the ingredients slowly but surely melding to the bottom of your pan.

And who the hell came up with the word "spatula"!? You'd think it would at least be an onomatopoeia or something. But nooo...

On Thursday, I ran some errands with my cello (and its cello paraphernalia) in the trunk of my car. They were there for maybe like... two hours. And my rosin melted.

I got a job at Eddie Bauer. The people I work with are all really nice, and the pay's sweet, so I'm pretty happy. But I feel like I'm already slightly too concerned with like... Sales Goals and stuff. I didn't reach my goal during my last shift, and I keep like... thinking about it...

And -- just in case you're interested -- this is my rep next year!

Elgar - Cello Concerto In E Minor, Op. 85
Bach - Suite No. 5 for unaccompanied Cello in C Minor, BWV 1011
Prokofiev - Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, Op. 119
Popper - Hungarian Rhapsodie for Cello and Piano, Op. 68

I still have no idea who my teacher is going to be. Tom said that he would tell us two weeks ago. I'm really not okay with not knowing.

I'm going to Michigan (on Monday) and Cleveland (on Wednesday-Friday) this week to get lessons with Teachers Whose Masters Programs I Would Really Like To Get Into. I can't decide whether I'm more nervous or more excited. (I'm definitely excited, though, about the amount of Harry Potter audio books that I will get to listen to in the car.)

I... should really go practice instead of ranting about spatulas.
