Doomsday Clock
There is no dearth of pop culture references that perfectly encapsulates breaking up.
Like the doomsday clock in The Watchmen, the quote "the winter is coming" in Game of Thrones, "Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds...I guess in a way it's oddly reassuring, and oddly sad at the same time. Evidence of how ubiquitous heartbreak is makes you feel stronger because we're all still here, a little worse for the wear, but surviving nonetheless, but at the same time it's disconcerting because there has to be more to life than feeling like you're just hanging on ... knuckles white from stowing away on the wrong jeepney, not knowing where the next stop will be.
