Life has been treating me well. This summer I'm going to a farm in PA as an apprentice to learn the fiber trade. I'll be there for three months working with sheep and goats, sheering them, dyeing the fiber with natural organic dyes from a garden on the farm, and learning to spin it into yarn. The owner gives workshops every weekend on spinning and dyeing, which I'll get to take for free. At the end of the apprenticeship, she normally gives a starter flock of lambs, but as I don't have the agriculturaly zoned land, we're working it where I'll take home lots of fiber and dyes to use on my spinning wheel. After that I'll come home for two weeks for mom's birthday, then head back up to NC to go to John Campbell Folk School to take glass blowing classes and a few spinning/dyeing classes to refine my skills. Hopefully, anyway. I'm applying to their work-study program, as I can't afford the $800/wk cost. So I'm in the midst of compiling all the red tape, rec letters, a letter of intent, blah blah blah. You get a week's worth of tuition, room and board for two 25 hour work weeks. Sounds good to me! Things are really coming together for me. Finally! It's amazing what can happen when you're sober.
Other than that, I've been busy making jewelry on a full time basis, selling my items to locally owned shops. Knitting has become my latest passion, and I can't wait to start spinning my own yarn.
C asked me to move in with him last night. Gotta think on this. I don't want to rush things, ya know? But damn, to have him every night. Hot damn.
