generic update
the debate tournament:
I guess it was mostly good besides a certain asshat. This weekend was mega-tiring and I have to work on a midterm due tomorrow so that'll be fun.
my mom:
-surgery went really well and all the cancerous cells are out
-she doesn't have to do chemo
-she got out of her position between a rock and a hard place with her job (moving to bellevue or having to find a new job) and her work is going to set up a home office for her
my dad:
uh... I guess he's in jail for drunk driving and aggravated assault. I don't know any of the details. One of my mom's friends was just looking through the paper and saw that in the police blurb section. 9-12 months and then mandatory rehab. Let's hope that does some good. My mom and I were talking about it and I learned that he was almost arrested a while ago when they were still together but the police officer simply returned him home because he knew that my mom would be the one punished for my dad's behavior. She won't tell me what he was doing so I can only imagine. The policeman was a recovered alcoholic and said you really do have to hit rock bottom before things can start to get better. If he hasn't hit rock-bottom yet, I really don't know how he can. I mean, what could be worse than losing everyone close to you because of your addiction. I just don't understand him. I pity him.
- on another note- I wonder if I can scrounge some scholarship money because my dad's a felon. My mom makes too much money now so I probably won't get a grant for next year. I don't know how that's going to pan out financially but I was hoping I could not work during the school year next year. We shall see...
