Dear everyone,
This is not just another annoying Nicole bulletin where I'm posting a stupid stupid survey. I am posting a survey, but it's a real one for a class that I'm taking in the Grad School, so if some peeps could fill it out and be serious about it, I'll buy you a drink next time I see you, and for real, you'll get smooches. So here goes, please be thoughtful and serious, I'm not judging you. The answers will be documented in a paper that I am doing, so if you would like to see the final draft to see how I'm using this, I'll get it to you when I've finished. Also, NO NAMES WILL BE USED when I finally do the paper, it's confidential. If you could also include your age and profession, I'd apreciate it. Thanks a lot, you all are awesome. Here goes. (PS: steve is my project partner)
American Sign Language 1: Survey Project

Questions:
1. In your opinion, what does deafness imply?
2. What experience or impression of members of Deaf culture do you have (Deaf culture=Deaf people who do not see the lack of hearing as a disability, but rather as bases of experience that has melded their beliefs, behavior, and language).
3. Do you know what American Sign Language is?
4. Have you ever seen people signing together? What is/was your reaction to that exchange?
5. If we were to propose that there is a group of people who use their lack of hearing as a building block for their culture, what would you say about that?
6. If you think that it is, to what degree do you think deafness is a disability?
7. If a hearing family has a deaf child, what implications do you think that will have on the child’s relationship to the family?
8. If you were to have a deaf child, where would you turn for support and information?
