[TBS] 2.5.3.F - Oxymoron: Criminal Justice.

Mar 03, 2008 13:56

Alex was a curious kid then again he seemed to take after Greg in a lot of things. He was nearing the age of three and seemed older then that. He heard Greg on the phone talking and mentioning the Criminal Justice system and that made Alex wonder something. So he waited patiently until Greg took notice and knew that quizzical look, it had mirrored his own when he was younger. So much like his parents had Greg nurtured that thirst for knowledge his son had and hung up the phone.

"What is it little man?"

"Daddy why do they call it criminal justice? shouldn't they get in troubles because they criminals?"

Greg paused a bit at the question and sat down picking Alex up and setting the little boy down into his lap. He chuckled softly looking down into those soft brown eyes.

"Well Alex yes but even so everyone deserves justice. And it's for everyone. It just means when something criminal happens justice is sought."

Alex looked up at him and blinked a bit. "Why do they?"

"Because sometimes someone else does the bad and makes it look like someone else did it."

"Why? That's mean!"

"Because the bad guy wants to get away with it."

"Bad people. Someone needs stop them."

"That's what daddy tries to do at work."

"What's that?"

"Him and those he works with we look at all the clues to find the right person that did it."

"Oh! You have a good job then."

"I like it."

"Like a spy!"

"Uh. No not really."

"Like what then."

"We just look for clues."

"Oh! Like Basil!"

"Basil?"

"The mousie."

"Oh. The Great Mouse Detective?"

"Yes!"

Greg stopped to think about that one as Alex waited a bit for an answer. Alex had a point and Greg smiled. "Yes just like Basil."

"But you and them are better I bets."

"We try."

"I want to do that too when I grow up!"

Alex ran off and Greg chuckled softly and went to fix up dinner.
