That Was The Weekend That Was

This was one of those weekends that didn't come together until Friday afternoon.

Friday -- We spent the afternoon making a massive bowl of potato and egg salad.

Saturday -- We went to the Pennsic Pity Party.  Being an old Boy Scout, I had written directions. We set off.  Siri agreed with all written directions for the first hour, so we stopped checking and simply went by her directions.  We made a right turn.  And entered a dead zone.  Siri got 0 bars and shut down.  The next turn was less than a mile.  Siri was silent.  We missed it.  And kept going.  And going.  And going.  "Honey, shouldn't Siri have given us another direction by now?"  Being an old Boy Scout, I had these ancient artifacts called paper maps.  We got back on course and arrived about two and a half hours later than we intended. :)  It was a lovely laid back potluck at someone's house.  Ken and Heidi, friends of ours from Geneseo were there. We 'wife-swapped' :)  and Ken drove my car while I rode with Heidi back to their house.  We were up until 3AM talking.

Sunday -- They had to leave for a Boy Scout function in the AM.  We left for the NYSDB annual picnic nearby.  They rejoined us after lunch.  They had a wonderful time, Heidi got to make a tree ornament, they both won prizes in the raffle.  I knew I wouldn't have forge time, so I brought chain mail, which a lot of people admired.  At day's end, we parted ways.  My wife and I drove into Buffalo to check on my mom's house and pick up another sheep fleece for our friend Barbara.
