Our minister has his meet the parishoners meetings here, however we kept missing those. We decided to check it out by ourselves. It's a little bit hidden in back. Look for the sign by the curb advertising their daily special and pull in the parking lot. Once your in the lot, you can see the restaurant. It strikes me as being a little bit old hippie and a little bit new millenial. The artwork on the walls is local and for sale. Suncatchers and plants in all the windows. Overhead duct pipes are visible because this place used to be part of a factory. The chairs and tables are all mismatched, high seats, low chairs and you can even sit on the couch and eat off the coffee like at home. There is a stack of board games in the corner. The place needs one of the those 'Take a Book, Leave a Book" bookshelves. The menu is written on the wall behind the cashier, mostly sandwiches, salads and soups. All ingredients are local and organic. I ordered the salami panini $8 and shrimp chowder $3. My wife ordered a hummus and portabella panini $8 with carrot ginger soup. The shrimp soup was just a touch spicier than I was expecting, but everything was excellent. The meal came with Rosemary bread. They are open 7:30AM to 8:30PM most days.

This is a calzones place that opened last year just as the school year started. Open 4PM to 4AM during the school year, 4PM to 2:30AM during summer break. No, that's not a typo. We had been running errands and hadn't eaten yet and it was late. Normally, we'd go to Denny's as it's the only all-night place in Fredonia, but it was only midnight and this place was still open. We decided to order to take home and for us to have lunch the following day. All calzones are $6.99, up it to a full pound for $1 extra. I ordered the BBQC (chicken, bacon, bbq sauce, mozarella and cheddar) and the Reuben with sour cream for tomorrow's lunch. My wife ordered a standard Roni with onions and mushrooms added (Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Ricotta, Mushrooms, Onions, Bell Peppers) with Marinara Sauce . "Quite tasty, but could have used more Ricotta." and CBR (chicken, bacon, ranch and mozarella) with blue cheese. They advertise over 60 varieties, including the desserts . I have to say both of mine were fantastic and I'll be using this place more often. My wife: "In both cases, I thought the calzones were good, but a little heavy on the bread. I prefer my calzones well stuffed. If the amount of filling provided was what they can provide for the price, then I'd rather the shell was a bit smaller. I did note that they have an extra stuffing option for a buck more, so maybe that's the way to go." My only complaints is that the list of sauces isn't on the menu or posted anywhere so the cook has to rattle them off each time. Also, you can park in back, but the staircases to get up there are a bit of a walk from their backdoor, but that's nothing they can do anything about.

This is the old Hook and Ladder Restaurant. Repainted and remodeled after being Nomad's Place. Lots of fake and real plants. When it first opened it had aloe at every table, but now there's only a few. Tables and chairs are all mis-matched. The coffee bar is an old cabinet with things like napkins, sugar packets, fresh silverware etc. in the open drawers. Used dishes and silverware go into the washtub on the other side of the restaurant. The last time we were here, the owner said that she bought all the furnishings at Fredonia's annual Attic and Seller Days. Menu is written on the chalk wall as you come in and whatever's in the display cases. It changes often, but mostly it's soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches. The last time we were here we both ordered the Pizza Soup, this time we both ordered the NE Clam Chowder. A cup of soup actually comes in a mug. The previous visit Karen ordered a basic salad, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wing Salad. This time around I had the Linguini and Shrimp Special and Karen had the Chipotle Chicken Salad. We have not been disappointed with anything we've ordered. My only complaint is that it is a morning coffee shop and only open from 7AM to 2PM, so we can't visit it most days.
