GOP political convention

Mar 29, 2016 10:53

I'm making my prediction now, so I can start my career as a psychic in July after the convention.  (Bear in mind, I currently have 0% success rate as a psychic, which isn't actually too far from the real ones.)

To become a GOP candidate, you need to collect 1237 delegates.  Trump currently has mid 700's, Cruz is next with mid 400's.  These delegates have not yet actually been chosen.  They will be chosen at the convention with the main criteria being that this is a reward for their loyalty to the party.  It's kinda like christening a ship with a bottle of champagne, you didn't have anything to do with building it, but you get to declare that it's officially launched.

So, Trump will come to the convention with just enough delegates to get the nomination.  If you want a specific number, 1240.  Cruz will be a distant second.  The delegates will be chosen for their loyalty to the party.  The official delegate vote will be given.  And it will be discovered that a few delegates have 'gone rogue' and voted for Cruz instead of for Trump.  You want a number, 10.  Trump will be just shy of enough delegates to claim the nomination.

So, what will Reince Priebus, the current head of the GOP do to correct this mistake and punish the renegades?  Based on current rules of the GOP party?  Since no candidate has enough delegates for the nomination, it is now a brokered convention.  And the renegades will have a finger shaken at them, "Naughty, naughty, naughty!"

When the smoke clears, Paul Ryan will be the official nominee of the party, The Donald will be nearly incoherent with rage and vow to run as an independent.  At least three people will be hospitalized or arrested as a result of physical fighting breaking out.

On the other side, the convention will be much less violent.  Hillary Clinton will get the nomination over Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump will do to Paul Ryan what Ralph Nader did to Al Gore (draw votes away from the party), Hillary will become our first female president.  The GOP will spend the next four years repairing the damage The Donald has done to the party.  The Donald will go back to reality TV and spend the next four years encouraging people to buy his bumper stickers and T-shirts and promising to run again in 2020, but he won't.

Remember, you heard it here first.  This prediction is free, future predictions will be available for a modest monthly fee after November.
