Friday -- Since I have to get up at 6 for work, I'm usually in bed by 10 at the latest. I have a friend who tapes all the shows after 10 for me and then we get together and watch them. Unfortunately, we managed to build up a small backlog, so Friday night my wife and I went over to cut down the backlog a bit. We're finally caught up on Person of Interest. Now, we just need to schedule another session to see the last few episodes of Constantine and Agents of Shield and we'll be caught up... as soon as I rent Winter Soldier. :)
Saturday -- The usual errand running. This weekend was Farm Festival in Fredonia. I toured most of the stalls. It's amazing the number of organizations asking for volunteers; Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels, Animal Shelters, Volunteer Firefighters. I asked the latter, "Do you really want someone my age?" "Young bucks, we've got, you can't have too many people on crowd control." I've thought about making my own crafts for sale, but I don't think I could make enough stuff to fill an entire booth. Ran into a number of UU folk. Unfortunately, the library was closed for the festival. We went to see Sherlock at the Fredonia Opera house. Good movie.
Sunday -- We were invited to an end-of-summer party. We spent the entire morning making five bean salad for the potluck portion. A guy I went to college with has a sister with her own business. She throws a huge bash for her clients and the rest of her immediate family invites the extended family and friends along. It's one of the few times I see folks I went to college with. There has to be 200-300 people at this event, there's an entire field for parking, an entire pig is roasted, some 50+ side dishes. Party starts at 4PM, food at 5PM, by 7:30 the party's nearly dead and by 8 people are cleaning up. It strikes me as too quick, eat and run. We were encouraged to take home food left behind. I'll be having salads for lunch all week.
