That Was The Week That Was

Thursday -- Back in late March, the COO tipped me off that the CFO would be asking for data for his annual cost report soon.  I started collecting the needed data.  On April 1st, he made his request, on April 2nd, I answered all the parts I could with a list of people to go to for the other parts. He thanked me and I replied that if he needed anything else, drop me an e-mail.  April 30th, I get a list of additional reports he needs.  With the implication that I'm not going home until it's done.  A lovely stressful day.

Friday -- My local SCA group was holding an event, so I took the day off from work.  I also had a Doctor's appointment in the morning to have a check-up on my infected leg.  The clinic called early in the morning to cancel it because my doctor called in sick.  My wife got the appointment re-instated with a different doctor.  I'm on a new anti-biotic.  I'm healing, but it's slow.

The event was wonderful.  I had offered to retain, but the reply came long after I had left for the event and I never touched managed to touch base with whoever was on site, so I didn't retain.  I tooks lots of photos for the newsletter.   I took pictures with a disposable camera because mine had broken.  I brought my latest sewing project and managed to get quite a bit done sitting and watching the fencing. After court, I took a long hot shower, we took some leftovers from the sideboard that they were giving away and took Mindy home.  We crashed about midnight.

Saturday -- I kept thinking it was Sunday because I had been to an SCA event the day before.  Ran the usual errands, including dropping off the camera for development.  They mail it to the central processor once a week. It's going to be 11 days before I see my photos.  The radio trivia question on Tuesday was "There were just over 3000 of these in 1998, now there's only 150 left in the entire country."  The answer was next-day photo development booths.  Digital has replaced it all.  I'm going to be putting together a special issue of the newsletter, but none of the photos will be mine.

The weather was lovely, we ran errands as fast as possible so I could get in some yard work.  The container garden on the back deck is now ready for planting.  4 former recycle bins, 20+ kitty litter buckets and 8 extra large plastic plant pots 12"+.  I'm going to give pumpkins and sunflowers another try, we're going to repeat the grape tomatoes and various peppers because we had good luck with those, an extremely large variety of herbs because my wife loves fresh herbs in her cooking and I'm trying an experiment with a plant called Job's Tears, and hopefully some woad.

Sunday -- Choir practice at UU, so we went early.  I got some more yard work in.  There's lots more to do. I had a couple of trees fall during the winter, so there's some chainsawing in my future.  I have a woodburning fireplace in a 140+ year old farmhouse.  I bet my heat bill is smaller than yours!

There's no SCA events in May that I have an interest in attending.  We won't be going to War Practice because we'll be dealing with selling my mother's house.  However in June, there's so many wonderful Bardic Events just over the border in the mid-realm, that I could attend one every weekend.  The royalty is going to wonder if I'm avoiding them. :)  Two of them even have puppet activities.  I was making jokes that I've inspired them but it turns out it's not a joke. The autocrats got the ideas from the History of Puppetry class that I taught at last year's Midrealm Bardic.
