run-ins

I ran into two people at IKEA today.

ONE: fellow SCA merchant. we had a quick chat about Clinton and merchanting.

TWO: old college friend! I got introduced to his husband and they're living in vancouver now! great, I've been wondering about how to get in touch with you. I know a theatre group that might be fun to volunteer for. "NO. we wouldn't do THAT. it takes money away from people who need jobs"

WTF? just SHOOT me down within 10 seconds of meeting you, whydon'tyou misterhusband? There are many more tactful ways to say "we've been cheated out of money before by volunteers" and I'm sorry that the theatre community is so strong here that it's difficult to find paying work but there's no reason to get snarky and in my face about the way the real world is bogging you down, man. *gasping for breath*

So I'm in a bit of a crappy mood. Even after an IKEA frozyoghurt. It was yummy, tasting equally like vanilla icecream and cakefrosting.

I suppose I should do more unpacking and washing of Things Camping. I have completed my todo list. ah well. And I'll wait on giving my old friend an email until I can figure out what to say. I was VERY close to saying, "I don't know how to talk to you," to husband. He was TOO inmyface. My friend was more laid back and in a very "hi howareya" frame of mind.
