Pirates off the starboard bow!

The class was a beauty crew of swabbers, doing their jobs (just the way that a pirate crew would be responsible for their jobs) and listening to me (the captain)

Before journals (near the start of the day), I read part of "How I Became a Pirate" then we went outside for gym.  I had a plan for this outside playtime that was to be called 'gym'

we played a long game of tag, thanks to the ministry of education's mandate for more gym time!  The game of 'tag' involved no tagging, just running to areas of the playground that I designated as certain areas a pirate would go.  "GO TO PORT" had the students running to the hedge on the left.  "GO TO STARBOARD" had the students running to the brick wall on the right.  "CROWSNEST" had the students running to the large octagon shape in the middle of the playground.  I commanded all to use their "SPYGLASS" to have them all see if they could see land.   "ALL HANDS ON DECK" meant spread out near the middle of the playground, and "TO THE LIFEBOATS" had all the students run to the benches that were near the port side.

At some point, I got tired of running so we used our spyglasses and found an island so we could bury our treasure.  I heard cries of "AYE AYE" and lots of little "ARRRRR" exclamations.  The student of the day was my first mate almost all day.

I had lots of fun.  Now it's off to the Fort Winery for the planned festivities.

after a lie-down and snack.  not necessarily in that order, though.

bcrenfest, talk like a pirate day
