Things which are not helping:

Feb 28, 2012 17:18

My perspective is not good this time of year anyway. I'm trying not to do anything drastic. Any input the denizens of LJ have is welcome. This is the situation:

Benjamin has some sort of chronic GI illness. It's being enthusiastically tested at DuPont Hospital. That's 90 minutes from my house.

One of the symptoms is that he vomits. A lot.

The school district policy is that a child must remain home for 24 hours after he or she vomits.

Ben has missed a lot of school.

9 days so far.

The district has a further policy of requiring a doctor's note after the 10th absence, excused or not.

Ben's 10th absence (baring unforeseen vomit) will be this Friday.

I am willing and able to provide doctor's notes for all testing-related absences.

I am unwilling to bring him to the doctor every time he vomits. His puking is a known defect, so to speak, and it would be both ridiculously expensive for us and a waste of the doctor's time to see him every time he throws up.

We appear to be at an impasse.
