I haven't been updating here much in the last few weeks. In fact, I haven't really been posting anywhere. Not even the super-short Twitter account I have. Sodding lurker that I am, I get through other people's lives and don't feel nearly as clever as I thought initial.
Halloween was great once I got over the sense of fail. I had planned on making 4 costumes over the course of October: 3 from Aladdin and a cute Snow White. Two of those got done, the other two were sacrificed to the bronchitis/cold/general ick that haunted me throughout the month. So we went out Friday night and *shudder* bought costumes. I justify this by the fact that the new Star Trek costumes are made from a fabric that I would have to have silk-screened in two colors to get it right.
In other words, I was totally hot geek bait for Halloween. Yeah, I got the Trek-chick minidress, in red. got the blue shirt to go with it (or was that vice-versa?).
Despite the fact that I worked on KS's costume first and he even helped me sew it (yeah, teh cuteness sat on my lap as I was sewing and "helped" by pushing the Reverse button when I told him), he wanted nothing to do with the finished product. Fought us putting him on it and cried when it was on. So we wound up buying him a tiny little astronaut costume, so that we could take him trick-or-treating. He was, of course, adorable. We just went up and down the block. He's still unsure about what was going on, but people were friendly and gave him candy, so that was kinda cool to him. He really had a great time giving out candy to the other kids though; he had a blast dropping fun-sized candies into all the kids' bags. There were several times when he was just standing at the door with both hands full of candy, waiting for someone to ring the bell.
That's my little altruist. *grin*
