Okay, there have been two good practices this week.
I've gone back to a longer sword. ( Actually Wat decided he would officially allow me to which is good cause I haven't bothered to cut down the ones lent by His Grace. His hope it will work to extend the variety of shots in my 'routine.' HE also handed me a copy of "How to Fight" by Sigifrith which I have been reading through.)
The Princess organizing stuff does still take time away from actually fighting at practices - Monday night it was ceremony for coronation and last night, it was checking in on garb, and trying to clarify scheduling/court issues with Chamberlain and Heads of Entourage.
Monday night was four of us fighting at Ard Chreag. Did a bit of work with Ailis as she is trying to figure out protecting her leg with the kite tail. And then we played an hour of Sir Wat in the middle - basically the Wat stays there bearpit. It was fun - he started off with two stick and then went to sword and board. I did get a few good kills in on him, still died once or twice to his face thrust but blocked a number of them. ( Wat wasn't going to make it to Skeldergate on Thursday as it It was a good night - did a number of walks around the school in armour with people who were working on problems/questions. Walking around that school in armour is something I have been doing with Quill since he was sixteen - we've solved a lot of our frustrations that way.
Last night was once again late in to kit - part of that was the need for food since lunch hadn't happened. ( Got invited by the photographer to join them on a patio but I needed to stay around for another conference call in the afternoon so instead lunch was an apple and an icecream cone. Taking food and rest in to consideration re. performance at fight practice was much easier to do when I didn't work for someone else.)
Fought - HRH Quilliam, Danica, Duke Aaron, Phelan, Conal (sp), and I think a few others as well we did melee drills. WE FOUGHT OUTDOORS until 12:19 am. IT was lovely. Okay, maybe most people don't describe practices as lovely but being able to breathe and not be too hot or dusty... very, very nice. Was trying to pay attention to body position - think my head is still drifting forward - but trying to remain settled over my hips and crouched motion which works only as long as I pay attention to it. Since the reasoning behind the longer sword is to attempt shots I dont always throw I was working on those as well - the drills Wat has been talking about sat in my brain. The Melee drills were agressive and great. We need to do more, but I also like the social aspects and what I learn from one on ones so needed time to do that.
Enough writing before coffee....Sorry I haven't been writing real fight reports for those who like them. I will work on keeping it up.
Oh and for those of you who are not reading Berus' reports of the evening:
Wow..... that's all I can say.... over 50 people there last night.
Thanks to everyone for making it a good old one to remember for a while.

Notas de la Lucha
Fighting moved outside since it was such a gorgeous night and I don't
think anyone was disappointed in the amount of fighting going on.
While we didn't break our attendance record, the time record was beaten
by HRH's, Faegen and Rorik where they stopped fighting at 12:18 a full 3
minutes later than the old record. Good job folks.
There were melees and fair bit of training and lots and lots of
fighting. With most people in armour til after 10:30 11:00.
TRHs did a great job working the whole night. Quilliam looking a bit
like a newbie fighting in an old loaner helmet after forgetting his
helmet. Dagmar did a great job on the cardio front fighting for the
majority of the evening.
Really way to much to mention last night.. lots and lots of great
weapons going... some lefty on lefty love. Five lady fighters. Bjarn
tossing his cookies, James2 getting lots and lots of beats, Hamish
gutting Corwyn. Faegen the bastard sword fiend (get a shield why don't
ya). Taco and his Indestructable Armour
Fencing Notes
I saw them playing in the back room but missed it all
Sweatshop
Josh continuing to get his gear together
Breka's Testes
Didn't have a good night... 3 shots apparently. I'm sure Geoff2 was
happy. And he was sick as a dog too, so it was kinda funny to watch.
Non Fighting Notes
Berus who was almost fully armoured, as in putting on his helmet and
realizing that his chin strap never made it back from last week's lesson
in making chinstraps. There was throwing things, swearing and a fair
number of threats to everyone's health. After a collective search by
about 20 people trying to calm the very angry landlord, it was not found
and Berus found himself and very cranky observer. Writing this has just
pissed me off more actually.
There were kids and people everywhere last night. The beer and food
were a flowing.
Ack... it's to nice outside to be writing this stuff....
