Last night, Laura, Adam, and myself went to Newbury Street because we just HAD to get out of the dorm. Well, we left at about 4:30 and got back to the dorm at 7. Then, we went to a comedy club! George, Sarah, her two friends from home, Katie, Cailyn, her friend from home, Liz Fisher, Jules, Laura, Adam, and myself went to the Comedy Stop on Boylston Street. My biggest fear going in there was that the comedian would single me out and make fun of me, so I wanted to sit as far back as possible. Well, it just wasn't in the cards for me because they sat me, Katie, and George RIGHT IN FRONT. Holy scary. It was all good, though. Of course one comedian asked me if I had any trouble with the ladies, to which I responded, "Um... I'm gay." It was hysterical. We all got a good laugh off that one. Then later, he asked me what my favorite show was, and I responded, "Will and Grace" in the gayest voice I could muster, and the comedian laughed a little to himself and then said, "Will and Grace... hey, leave the comedy up to the STRAIGHT professionals, ok?" It was so fucking funny! Although I had my fear realized (being the butt of a comedian's joke), it turned out to be funny as opposed to humiliating. The only bad thing about the evening was the one comic who didn't belong. He was Rodney Dangerfield-esque, except completely unoriginal and painfully unfunny. His ENTIRE routine consisted of telling bad jokes, and jokes like the ones he was telling don't work in today's comedy. Today's comedy needs to be surprising. The audience shouldn't expect the laugh, ya know? Well, his jokes all had a formula, almost a rhythm, and it didn't work. Nobody found him funny, and I found him to be completely offensive. Adam summed it up best when he said, "I've heard almost every single one of those jokes." Oh, and he was definitely high on something while onstage. Oy. Another comedian looked exactly like Tim Pike. And his comedy was a lot like Tim's. It was so weird! He happened to be my favorite comedian because he made up a lot of his comedy based on the reactions of the audience. Being able to be that funny on the spot takes talent. After the comedy club, the group wanted to go to Applebees, but I told Phil that I would come back and drink with him, so I did. Adam and Laura came with. We had an amazing time just sitting in his room drinking cocktails. The drinks were SOOO good. He made us his special drink. It had 6 ounces of Bacardi Razz, one half-cup of cranberry juice and one half-cup of seven up. I'm telling ya, the only way to drink is to do cocktails. It took two drinks to get me drunk, and each sip didn't make me queezy like taking shots does. Anyways, I spent the evening telling Adam and Laura NOT to make out and then had a really nice conversation with Phil. I can't wait until we all room together next year. It sucks that Caitlin, Jackie and I can't do the apartment thing, but this is the next best thing for me, hands down. All right, I gotta go shower now and get the day going. I've had enough partying this weekend, so today is going to be a laundry/homework day. Yippee... :-P
