An April afternoon in Des Peres Park

Apr 20, 2004 22:03

Blue and blustery, the sky cowers
behind the grey turbulent clouds.
The trees quiver and dance unpredictably
as the wind displays its invisible power.
Still the fountain splashes
spraying us as the wind catches the drops.
Pear shaped women struggle
up the hill with determination.
Young mothers casually push strollers
while middle aged empty nesters
walk their poodles and shitzus.
The tennis player bounce around
in short skirts and pony tails
while the runners pound by,
red faced and happy.
The groundkeepers weild machinery with relish
while keeping a watchful eye on the sky.
An April afternoon in Des Peres Park,
I observe the life as it passes by.
People come and go
as the wind blows.
