The Boy with a Dragon Tattoo 5

Sep 27, 2012 01:45

Seohyun arrived at Brad-gyusoonim's bar panting. She immediately spotted Jieun hiding behind the bar's counter, looking at Yonghwa's direction. She didn't bother look at Yonghwa's direction, as Jieun's silly appearance was distracting enough. Even Brad-gyosoonim was lightly chuckling at the sight. She bowed towards her old professor and immediately sneaked up beside her friend.

"What are you doing?" she scolded Jieun, slapping her arm. Jieun didn't even look back at her. She just pointed towards Yonghwa's direction. Seohyun immediately looked at where Jieun was pointing. Yonghwa was talking with a beautiful woman, indeed.

"See? She's going to steal him away from you," Jieun told her, as if she was a teacher's pet reporting to the teacher.
Seohyun just looked at Jieun and laughed. Jieun was bewildered.
"WAE?"
"That's Jihyo-unnie. She runs the sports shop one floor below my uncle's gym.," Seohyun flatly told her. She knew that Yonghwa's first fight is coming up in a moment, and Jihyo might be giving Yonghwa important advice, but she can't help but feel a little jealous. Her attraction's going a bit too extreme, she thought to herself. "I think she's giving him advice, since his first fight's starting soon."
"I don't think that Jihyo-ssi holding Yonghwa's face is a sign that she's giving him advice," Jihyo said.

Seohyun's eyes suddenly widened, and turned to Yonghwa's direction. Jihyo-ssi was indeed caressing Yonghwa's face. A shy smile was plastered on Yonghwa's face. Seohyun couldn't help but scream.

"BWOH?!"

The entire bar looked at her. Jihyo suddenly looked at Seohyun, and she immediately let go of Yonghwa's face. Yonghwa turned and his mouth went agape with Seohyun's expression. Seohyun immediately stormed out of Brad-gyosoonim's bar, and Yonghwa immediately followed her. Jieun's face painted a mix of panic, worry, and satisfaction. Panic because Her friend created a scene. Worry because her best friend's only potential shot to having a happy love life may have been shot down by her nosiness.

Satisfaction because she might have a shot with the hot MMA fighter.

Seohyun was sprinting when she noticed that Yonghwa was chasing her. She couldn't beat the amazing cardio of a MMA fighter, however. His sudden grip on her arm stopped her.

"Why are you running away?" he asked.
"Because I like jogging," she answered. She didn't want to face this now. Jihyo-ssi having a thing with Yonghwa.
Yonghwa smiled. "You actually got jealous of me and Jihyo-ssi?"
Seohyun's eyes went wide open. "A-aniyo..."

'Wait. Am I actually falling in love with this flirt?'

She was buying into the idea when she suddenly remembered him almost kissing Jieun.

That sudden thought sent chills down Seohyun's spine. 'No no no no no no, this is a bad joke,' she kept on thinking. 'He kisses almost everyone when he gets a chance. He might even kiss Jongkook-samchon if the situation permits it. This kissing monster is a flirt to boot. A smoking hot flirt...'

Seohyun finally snapped out of her reflections when she noticed Yonghwa's lips a inch away from hers. To her surprise, she couldn't help but slap him square in the face. Yonghwa's nose bled.

"Yah!" Yonghwa shouted, tending to his bleeding nose.
"Yo... You... You almost kissed me again, you kissing monster!" she screeched.

People were stopping and looking on, curious and entertained by this fight that's happening in the middle of the day.

"It's not like you didn't like that hickey I gave you the other night!" he snapped back.
"Ooh," the crowd murmured.
"At least I don't kiss every girl that comes my way! Gross!" she answered.
"You're getting burned, bro!" a random stranger said. The crowd laughed.
"As if I'm attracted to you!" Yonghwa said in anger.
"Oh, so you think you're that hot?!" she answered.
"Well, sorry, Miss Stuck Up Princess, I don't even know why I bothered
"Fine!"
"FINE!"

They went their separate ways. Yonghwa walked back to the bar. Seohyun went home. The crowd dispersed as quickly as it gathered.

Jihyo laughed when she heard what happened between Yonghwa and Seohyun.

"To think that a woman is the one who will give you your first nosebleed ever," Jihyo said in the midst of laughing her guts out.
Yonghwa was pouting, with a tissue stuck up his nose to prevent the blood from flowing. "She's a tennis player!"
"And what does that have to do with anything?"
"She was a strong swing!"
"You're just making excuses, Yonghwa."
"No, I am not."

A minute of awkward silence passed.

"You're not going to tell her?" Jihyo asked again.
"Tell her what?" he answered.
"That this is all a misunderstanding?"
"Why should I clarify things with her?"
"It's pretty obvious that you two have the--"
"I do not want an assuming girlfriend. That'd be a pain in the ass. Besides, I'm just attracted. This will pass."
"If you say so."
"Yeah."
"Oh, thanks for clarifying my mind about Gary-yah and Changju-ssi."
"No problem about that. You didn't need to caress my face to make your point across, though."
"You're right. I just wanted to touch your pretty face."

They laughed.

"So, about your upcoming debut fight..." Jihyo began.
"I've got it all figured out," Yonghwa said with a smile on his face.

April 2010. Jangchung Gymnasium.

She doesn't even know why she's here. This is Yonghwa's debut fight, but she doesn't even want to see him. After their last fight, they haven't talked at each other for almost two months. She did her best to avoid him at school, so even if he wants to talk to her, she won't let him. He wasn't trying to talk to her either when she hangs out with her uncle and friends from the gym, so Seohyun quickly assumed that he doesn't want to talk either.

So she definitely has no idea why she tagged along with Jieun to watch the fight. It's quite funny, she thought to herself. Jieun, a girl who hates any form of physical pain, is eager to watch Yonghwa fight while she, a devout MMA fan, doesn't feel like watching one.

As soon as they sat down, Jung Yonghwa came out to the arena, walking towards the octagon. Jongkook-samchon was beside him as his cornerman, and Gwangsoo was the designated cutman. He was wearing nothing but a pair of black trunks that look like boxers, and a pair of MMA gloves. His minimal clothing made the dragon tattoo stand out even more. The girls within the stadium immediately squealed when they saw Yonghwa.

"Look at the hottie with the dragon tattoo."
"He's so cute!"
"What's he doing in MMA?"
"He looks so yummy."
"I want to take off his pants."

Seohyun was laughing from the things that she heard the group of girls around her say. She stopped laughing when she saw Jieun wiping off her drool.

The stadium's audio system blasted the announcer's voice.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this fight in the middleweight division is set for three five minute rounds. On the blue corner, this fighter is a practicioner of muay thai and brazilian jiu jitsu, is six feet two inches tall, and weighs at 185 lbs. From Prodigy MMA, Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim! Jin! Seok!"

Yonghwa's opponent, a lanky fighter with a long reach advantage, stepped forward and bowed to the crowd.

"And his opponent on the red corner is a practicioner of boxing, judo and taekwondo, is five feet eleven inches tall, and weighs at 185 lbs. From Kim Jongkook MMA, Jung! Yong! Hwaaaaaaaaa!"

Yonghwa also took a step forward and bowed. Unlike his opponent, however, he was greeted with a mix reaction.

"Have babies with me!" one woman shouted.
"You're just in there for the ladies!" one man jeered.

He smiled at the circus happening around him, which made the crowd go wilder. The referee signaled the two fighters to approach the middle for the last minute instructions.

Separate if you were told to separate. No hits should be directed under the fighters' belt area. No underhanded moves, or points will be deducted. Once the fighters understood, they were made to shake hands, in the form of a fist bump.

They went back to their corners, and waited for the opening bell to start the match.

The bell rang, signalling the start of the match. The taller fighter rushed in and attempted for a takedown. This seemed all too familiar for Jongkook, Gwangsoo and Seohyun. Yonghwa couldn't help but smile as he moved his feet away and smashed his opponent's face with a left hook that was extra strong due to the force that Yonghwa generated from his weight and hip motion. The crowd got up its feet when it witnessed Yonghwa's explosive hook. Jongkook immediately looked at Gwangsoo, a big smile plastered on his face. Gwangsoo dismissed him with a nervous chuckle.

Jinseok was stunned by the sudden hit, but was able to hold on to the fence to avoid an instant knockout. Yonghwa moved away from him. He wanted to enjoy the match, obviously. "Yah! Finish it!" Jongkook shouted from the corner. Yonghwa disregarded what he said and tried enjoying the match even further. He allowed the taller Jinseok to stand up.

Jongkook pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Ah, kids..." was all he said.

The fight continued, and the two tried to gauge each other's range for three minutes. Yonghwa was caught off guard, however, when Jinseok unleashed a roundhouse kick. He was able to block the kick, but the surprise caught him off guard. The impact did affect his balance a bit. Seohyun gasped in worry. Jieun, who saw her friend's reaction, secretly smiled in victory. Even Jongkook looked nervous. Jinseok released a right straight to Yonghwa's face, but he countered with a spinning back fist that immediately knocked him out.

The crowd was on its feet for Yonghwa's impressive debut. Yonghwa was raising his fists to the air as he celebrated his first professional win with Jongkook and Gwangsoo. Jieun was cheering from the stands. Seohyun initially joined her, but stopped herself. She took a good look at Yonghwa. She soon noticed that Yonghwa was also looking at her. They shared a moment.

Soon enough, Seohyun took her bag and left. Jieun didn't stop her from going. Yonghwa's eyes were chasing Seohyun's back.

***

Seohyun was invited by his uncle to join Yonghwa's victory party. She didn't feel like seeing even a strand of hair from Yonghwa.

The days passed by. Seohyun kept focused on her tennis. She began watching UFC a lot less than usual, as she is constantly reminded of the kissing monster when she watches it. Jieun took her fanaticism, as she developed a genuine interest in MMA.

One day, she received a note:

"Seohyun-ah.

Come see me at the library's rooftop. 5pm. I hope you will be there.

An admirer."

The tennis club was squealing at the note she got. Even Taeyeon was smiling when she saw the note.

"Lucky you," Taeyeon said.
"Wae? Why am I lucky?" Seohyun asked.
"You'll know when you get to the library's rooftop," Taeyeon answered, puzzling Seohyun even more.

5pm eventually crept along. She climbed up to the library's rooftop, anxious to know the identity of her admirer. No one was there. She waited for a while. She was taking her time, admiring the view, when someone suddenly spoke to her.

"You're here."

She recognized the voice. She slowly turned around.

He was the football teams' top striker, and he was a regular of Korean's U21 team. He decided not to go pro, as he felt that he didn't have sufficient experience to go pro. Many teams, including teams from the German league Bundesliga, are contacting him regarding his potential debut with their team. His good looks made him a legend that shares the same spotlight as Yonghwa.

"Lee Minho-ssi."

A/N: Hello!

It's been a while since I wrote anything. It's good that I managed to put a fight in here, since this story revolves around fights, anyway. HAHA. I wonder what'll happen with Seohyun, Yonghwa, and Minho? HAHAHA This is fun.
