Law Expands Right to Kill in Self-Defense

A new law passed in florida allows people to kill in public in self defense, whole article can be found here.

Essentially, people in florida weren't allowed to kill in self defense unless they were unable to retreat. That meant you had to try to run away before trying to fight. So, it was against the law to defend yourself until you tried to be a bitch and found that that didn't work.

Well they've changed it now, it just needs Jeb Bush to sign (and he says he will). This might be the first good thing I've heard in politics since Reagan got shot (sorry, I know he had a lot of fans, but I hate politicians with emphasis on the ones who belong to political parties).

A few parts of the article I wish to quote and comment on:

"For a House that talks about the culture of life it's ironic that we would be devaluing life in this bill," said Democratic state Rep. Dan Gelber of Miami Beach. "That's exactly what we're doing."

Right, what ever. If a person threatens your life, he has already devalued your life in lieu of whatever he wants (be it money or sex or whatever). If my life is worth less to someone than my wallet, than in his eyes I am not subject to laws against violence, just as those laws don't apply to my wallet. I am unable to commit a crime against him. By killing him, I reaffirm the value of my own life by virtue of its continued existence. If the criminal caught me by surprise and was unable to survive the encounter, his life hadn't much value to begin with.

Critics say the measure could lead to racially motivated killings and promote deadly escalations of arguments.

Maybe, but look at the facts. From the Bureau of Justice:

At yearend 2003 there were 3,405 black male prisoners per 100,000 black males in the United States in prison, compared to 1,231 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 465 white male inmates per 100,000 white males.

In the U.S. there are 281,421,906 people (according to the Census Bureau) in the year 2000. 75.1% were white, 12.3% were black, and 12.5% were hispanic. So the percent of black males in prison is more than 7 times that of white males, while there are less than 7 times as many white people. The percent of hispanics in jail is little more than a third of that of african americans while there total population is nearly identical. So, most people committing crimes are non-white. So, in every crime committed against a white person, chances are a non-white person is doing it. Since "racially motivated" essentially means a white person did something to a non-white person (since only white people and all white people are racist), then yes it will lead to more "racially motivated" killings. That's not the fault of the bill, nor is it the fault of "racists" (white people), it is the fault of crybaby minorities who think hating non-white people is a worse crime than eating babies (but not a worse crime that eating non-white babies because you hate them) and the dickweed politicians who agree just to get a few votes that they can go pick up in a van.

In conclusion, Rock on Florida. You taken a step towards freedom. Everyone has the right to defend themselves wherever, however. Now if you could just stop rigging elections...
