Arma virumque cano

Three millennia later, it's still all about technology and people. My technological voyages today were no exception.

The trouble with electric bicycles is that they are still bicycles, with brakes and tires and gears and all manner of things that break. Yesterday I had a flat going up the hill: luckily there were people passing to give me a ride, and people able to pick up spare tires and tubes for me. The root cause is my mechanic, who "tightens the brakes" by making them grip into the tire, ripping up the sidewall. It does brake strongly, though.

And then today the front tire burst, at the train station, for the same reason. This time I had to make my own way to the mall, find the parts, walk back to the light rail, and try fix it. The motor's on the front wheel though, so it's a pain to remove, and one ends up breaking the connectors. Dead bike. Back to mechanic now.

One very productive Friday. I need a beer.
