Mood music
My music collection this historic morning brings up the following songs, born out of another time of turmoil, far far away. Here is a playlist (16 minutes total) and here's a little bit about the songs.
* David Kramer, Out of the Blue. A folk singer tells of his origins.
* Johnny Clegg, These Days. Clegg is known as The White Zulu. A very passionate man.
* Bright Blue, Weeping. A classic parable.
* Laurika Rauch, Hot Gates. I think of her as South Africa's Leonard Cohen, except her sadness is less personal, and she's more melodic. These striking lyrics are her husband's, a professor of economics.
* Falling Mirror, Making Out with Granny. This one is not as serious.
