WTF. Google auto-updated my IE search bar, which I was specifically keeping at a lower version number. I never know why people praise Google and give Microsoft a hard time. I feel that MS is just your everyday capitalist company out to rule the business world, and I can respect that. But Google seems to have dark ulterior motives, trying to control the world's information. And then they do some kind of shady thing like auto-update my toolbar. Uninstalling as we speak. Look at that. I've had it on my computer for three years and a month, enjoying it's ease of use and accessibility; now all that down the drain. EDIT: [
a ha, a solution]
So the Wii. Tuesday morning was PS3 preorders at GS/EB, email notifications were only sent out the night before. People who arrived to the store at 6am were turned away. Rumors were that Wii preorders were to be on Friday...Friday the 13th. Unluckily for me, I was scheduled to work 7am pre-opening shift that day. I hoped it was just a rumor. Maybe it would really be next Tuesday? After all, they already sent out this week's newsletter, so they can't just spring another announcement all of a sudden, right? Well, it became official, so matters got desperate. I hired my roommate Steve to sit in line in my place, asking him in all seriousness how early he could wake up. He said maybe 7am. Good, but I was still nervous. I got out later than I wanted since my body felt it would rather sit through a few alarms instead of getting out of bed for video game presale mania. I arrived at 6:30am and found myself as number 18 in line. I asked if anyone had heard any numbers. 32 units, four allotted for employees. The fellow I spoke to figured that even if they abused the employee purchases, we'd still have 22 to go around and I'd be safe. I called Steve when I got in line just to make sure he was up and on his way. Seems he set his alarm for 6:50, thinking he'd need to wake up at 7, not be somewhere at 7. Fortunately he arrived right as I needed to head up to Best Buy. The first people in line were there since 1am, and for the 20 minutes I stood in line, no one else had joined us. But it sold out immediately. Although the GS/EB memo circulating the internet chided stores for opening their doors early for the PS3 presale, they still opened early despite. Steve only put down the minimum $50 out of my $100+ in credit slips, but I went in and paid the system off in full, tax included, after my shift. The clerk said my roommate looked very confused.
Now the waiting game...
And now to sleep. I've got training at 8am in the morning regarding Best Buy's PS3/Wii launch plans.
