There are some things I've neglected to write about. Let's see...
My last day at Target was quite a while ago. Fortunately they didn't wind up scheduling me on the night before my portfolio was due. However the Monday before that, it seems I wasn't even listed on the distribution. Though I was on the schedule to work that night, they wouldn't have noticed my absense since there wouldn't have been any un-manned departments. However, I did earn a hug from a customer after I located her lost wallet.
Last Saturday? Two Saturdays ago? Anyway, Bianca woke me up early in the morning with a phonecall and I went to help Jenn move. As our caravan was waiting to U-turn into her now abode, who should be walking on the sidewalk on Semoran but one of the Empire's finest. Yes, a stormtrooper. A couple of us gave chase on foot, they armed with camera phones. And so we asked, "what are you doing?" "Patrolling for the Empire, of course. Don't ask stupid questions!" And then he told us pedestrians to "drive safely!" Yeah. And the crazy thing is he even had a voicebox to sound like a stormtrooper.
Also a couple weeks ago, I had some DS fun with a lass named Rachel, who though we probably had a class together way back in the very first semester of college, may be better acquainted through a couple degrees of mutual friends. We did some experimentation trying to link multiplayer matches with my physical carts with her ROMs. We had varying levels of success. And then a few days later we ventured all the way to the Altamonte Toys R Us to collect rare Mario-themed house decorations in Animal Crossing. I also bought way too many clearance items as usual, including but not limited to a Furby, some Pokemon board games, and some extra poker chips. And, of course, clearance candy. Can't pass up on food that needs a red tag to finally get sold off the shelf...
Today was payday. And since a paycheck can't have half one payrate and half another, I got it all with my new payrate. Sweet. I also got in a pair of nametags...not that Geek Squad people wear them anyway. Still no uniform for me.
Supervisor asked me to help out on the front counter today. Let me tell you, you're pretty ineffectual if you don't have the ability to log into the POS system (point of sale). Can I go back and fetch your system or camera? Sure! What, you want to actually pay for it? Hold on, we need to stand around a bit for my colleagues to finish helping their customers so I can ask them to ring you out. The plan is to finally do register training tomorrow during my 8-hour shift. Hopefully they can do without me for a few hours.
I was scheduled to leave tonight at 9:45, but then that would leave just two people at Geek Squad to close. I stayed to help them. Staying on the clock for an extra hour is much more appealing when you're getting paid in the double-digits. I was only scheduled a bit over 20 hours this week, so hopefully I don't get yelled at for not jumping ship at the scheduled time, but $10 is $10, so maybe it's worth making a fuss over. That's business.
Why the hell am I still awake and writing? I need to get to work at 11. However, it seems they've devised a method to bypass BitTorrent lock-outs, and it seems to be working dandily. Slow, but functional at least.
