Most impressive

Of all the crazy, mad scientist things you can read about in Wired magazine, the single thing that most impressed me in this month's issue is an advertisement. It's an advertisement for Accutron brand watches; it's on a thicker stock of paper and bound right into the magazine. So what sets it apart? There are locations and phone numbers of local places where you can buy the watch. Sure, Orlando's a major city, maybe that could explain it, but say big cities don't get the expensive special treatment with customized ads. What kind of radius do these ads cover? What if my mailing address was back in Jax? Would I get store listings for Jax? Or the same Orlando ones? Atlanta? No ad at all? What about the people who paid for the advertisement on the opposite side of the page? Are they SOL in smaller markets?

The logistical nightmare of custom localized advertisements is melting my brain!
