Big record store haul

Mar 22, 2006 12:44

I went into Park Ave to see the free t-shirt situation for the new Sounds album. Best Buy's price is $8.99 and the indie-store premium here was only $3 more, so I decided to bite, despite not liking the album itself. They never got any of the promo shirts, but they called the main store and saved on for me to pick up tomorrow or Friday.

My big find in the used bin was two Jude albums! I've downloaded a great deal of his songs already since way back in high school, but the only place where I could buy his albums was at Virgin Megastore with its super-high prices. I also picked up The Dead 60's. I found this Group X album, but right as I was being rung up, I realized I didn't listen to it yet. Good thing I stopped there because it turns out these rappers were not of the funny-voiced, geeky sort.

ADDENDUM: Ack, what's this new Park Ave email?! "Special price this weekend only (through Sunday, 3/26)" on The Sounds album. $8.99, same price as Best Buy. I doubt indie stores will price-match themselves. And are they strict about the weekend being only Friday through Sunday? They're only advertising the other promo-freebie option of an LE 7" picture disc and don't mention the t-shirt option.
