Isolation
Though usually unreliable, the internet situation in our apartment has been especially atrocious tonight, barring all access to the internet. This is Jess' first encounter with this issue, and she immediately announces that we should invest in cable modem service. If you asked me last week, I'd be gung-ho for the idea, but I've been watching the [ Northgate (complaint) forums ]. They claim they're working towards boosting our throughput in the near future. This outage might be a result of that. We're already working our way towards power overages every month, and even split four ways (after taxes), the cable modem service would add another $15-ish to the bill every month. Unfortunately, it's not like we can get a refund on our rent if we opt out of their included internet service.
