Today's Digital Rhetorics class was just to let the TA's introduce themselves and take role. I'm with the asian one who studies video games....
So that let out early, and I made the hike to the bus stop. We waited around for quite a while; a couple Black & Gold buses arrived, with no one waiting who wanted to use them--some guys made comments about what a waste they are. Eventually the Northgate/Tivoli bus arrived. As students disembarked, as did the bus driver who walks towards HPA. After a moment of confusion, people start climbing on; not too much longer does the bus driver return, putting his hand out in front of the next person in line, sits down, says he has to move the bus, shuts the door and drives off. "O....kay." Immediately after, an greying man on a cellphone stops in front of us, and askes us, "is that the bus you were waiting for?" Everybody asks, "what just happened here?" Keep in mind this whole situation took place in the span of only about a minute. Turns out the bus was just turning around and came to a stop in one of the parking lanes. Probably didn't want to block traffic. The bus driver leaves again, and the rest of us climb on. One of the guys says they should close the door to keep the A/C in (and also other comments about hijacking the bus, of course). One guy went up to deal with the door. He let in a girl who took his seat. He took this perfect opportunity to plant himself in the driver's seat. About a minute or two later, the bus driver is returning, but the mystery old man in the car is walking up to intercept him. I don't know what exchange took place outside, but the bus driver (did I mention he looked like a FOB asian?) is yelling something about having to go to the bathroom and not ever having left people on a bus for long before. So it becomes awkward, and the bus driver is speeding, so the smart-aleck guys from before just go and agree with whatever the bus driver is saying.
Eep.
Now to attend to my new puppy.
