Mediocre, I'd say. Very by-the-numbers and all too relaxed. The only parts that felt raw were, unfortunately, the parts where it seems the band wasn't syching up properly. (Also, despite the fidelity in which the rest of the live performance matched the album, I was disappointed that the guitar solos weren't as stand-up as the album.) Set was long enough, with several journeys into their prior album. One of the encore songs was from their Knock Knock Knock EP, which I have yet to listen (and seemed like hardly anyone else did, either). Wisely, they avoided their catalog of early songs. However, those songs would be moshable, not any from the two good albums, despite what the kiddies may believe.
While not as important as the act we paid to see, there was no opening band tonight.
I also ate half a mint that had been in my pants pocket since May 16, which themselves have been laundered several times since. I was feeling rather woozy from the drive and from standing around for an hour and a half for the show to start, and I didn't want to invest in the expensive wares offered by the Hard Rock. I only ate half in case I needed an energy burst later.
I wore my Ima Robot tee to the show to see if anyone else would be familiar with the band. It was because of Ima Robot that I discovered Hot Hot Heat in the first place.
Though I didn't do an interview portion, look for Isabelle, Janel, and I in the background of several interviews of concert-goers. We happened to be buying tees when they decided to film the hungry consumer-ing. We were also right up front and center, so I wouldn't doubt we'll be shown on TV. Like the MCR show, they didn't announce the air date.
