The steel felt cold in my hand as I heard the gentle grinding and click of the clip as it made its destination. I pulled back on the hammer with my left hand and felt the gun quiver in anticipation as the first bullet pulled into the chamber. I took a quick look at my surroundings. My back was to the wall, windows to my left and right. Red and blue lights shined in through the windows, disfigured by chain link fences covering the outside. The lights made shadows dance through the room as if it was filled with beautiful men and women dancing to the Benny Goodman Orchestra playing Sing, Sing, Sing. The beautiful men and women quickly turn to chocolate chip cookies spraying chocolate chips everywhere. I shake my head in disbelief. I’m hallucinating again. I’ve been awake for 36 hours at this point and I’m losing it. The heroin is wearing off and still nothing makes sense.

The cops who are shouting into their megaphones isn’t helping my head at all. It only makes the oncoming headaches and shakes worse. I can barely hear what he’s saying, it sounds like he’s speaking Pig Latin translated into French into Chinese and finally into English. The headache quickly turns into a migraine as sweat rolls down my face, and my whole body shakes. Another set on of the shakes. My grip on the gun loosens and I drop the gun. It hits the floor with a loud clunk.

“You have 30 seconds to come out with your hands up, or else we’re going to come in for you.”

It was the first thing I heard them say coherently in the past 5 minutes since they had gotten here. I drop down to my knees. I know it’s all over. There’s no going back. She’s dead. He’s still out there. And I’m in here, trapped by the cops. Framed by a complete moron. He could barely hold his own in a spelling bee against a five year old child who doesn’t even speak English. It’s all over, and I know it.

I dropped to my knees, and picked up my trusty Jericho. I raised my arm, aiming my jet black Jericho 941 at my head. I know it’s all over. But honestly… how did I get here?
