ya bluray for 50 gigs is pretty sexy. the imported games part is cool but i'm pretty sure the dvd movie regions from asia are still restricted. also later on if people ask about imported ps3 games i would stay safe and tell them it "should" play imports. i say that because there is still an option for developers to choose if they want to restrict region lock or not so random games in the future will have region lock.
another thing i find it VERY attractive about the ps3 is that the online service they copied the xbox360 and went ahead and made it free for monthly cost as far as i know. online gaming will be pretty sweet. the downside to it is games like tigerwoods and grand tourismo you have to BUY gear and upgrades with real money online. retarded but smart for sony.
with all the ps3 hype and excitement the nintendo Wii could potentially sneak up and take everyone by surprise. sony is expected to win the console war again and by a far margin but right now it's all eyes on nintendo. if they can take the wii and turn it into the nintendo ds console counterpart it's all over for everyone else.

as for me i know better than to jump on a console as soon as it comes out. since the super nintendo came out i wait 3 years to get the next gen console and see who wins and who is most innovative. BTW i would definitely wait purchasing a ps3 and hang on to your ps2 for a while. the production costs of the ps3 should drop pretty rapidly in the next few years when bluray becomes a household name like the dvd. the ONLY reason it's expensive is because bluray production is expensive. on top of that there is no hurry to get a ps3 now now now. sony promised the ps3 will stay for at least 10 years unlike the past consoles (other than the ps2) which lasts for about 4-5 years tops.
god i remember those dvd days when a dvd movie was 34.99 a pop in 1998 and dvd players for a pc was 250 dollars and that was a killer deal.
